NEW ZEALAND LANDSCAPES

Since moving back to her home area of Kapiti, Amelia has turned her eye towards the land she grew up on, creating a myriad of artworks with hills, farmland, lush forests, and the occasional sea view.

RICHMOND SERIES

This series of landscapes was born out of many winter wanderings through Richmond Park, and a fascination with the thick, eerie fog that would often descend upon the area - a phenomenon far less observed in Amelia’s homeland of New Zealand.
The paintings were created to instill a sense of calm, some with large areas of negative space, and the border between sky, water and land deliberately indistinct. The results are atmospheric snapshots of the land, that draw the viewer in, and allow them to be transported to a crisp wintery day in the British wilderness.
